Parents are not positioned to creatively educate students who are in dire need of motivation and a sense that education makes a difference. There is a vast disconnect between parents and the K12 schools they are sending their children to attend. Schools cannot keep up with technology and an awareness of the careers that will position our country to remain competitive. Dr. Jones’ new book “Parent’s Ultimate Education Guide” breaks down the wall that separates parents and schools and our position to become education leaders again. He says more than ever our students need to attend college and graduate.
Parents are scrambling to find K12 schools that will help their children to focus on learning. There are a growing number of private and charter schools that offer alternatives for parents. Parents are not equipped to raise the academic level of students because they are also the victims of inadequate education. In some cases parents are finding that students reading levels are three to four years behind. They are not convinced that school districts have their best interest in mind. Therefore, the number of parents attending Parent Teacher Association meetings in the cities across the country has diminished. Parents are devastated by long work hours and working two jobs just to make ends meet. Bill Cosby has been a strong proponent of pushing parents to take charge of their children’s destiny.
Our country stands to lose if we are not empowering parents with information that improves the performance of students. Dr. Jones is traveling around the country to make a difference in the lives of struggling parents. Parents are confronted with challenging choices because they do not know the essential study skills students must know to succeed. Students are locked into a downward spiraling pattern because their parents were not trained to create an effective study environment at home. Parents can see how their children’s future potential to enter college is unraveling right before their eyes and they are frustrated. Dr. Jones agrees with Bill and Melinda Gates who are spending a billion dollars to create alternative schools that offer innovative instruction and parent involvement. The future can be reinvented and we can put a jolt into a national school system where parents feel disenfranchised.
